Francis Zavier Ngannou, born on 5 September 1986, is a Cameroonian and French professional mixed martial artist and boxer who competes in the Heavyweight division. Ngannou has competed in the heavyweight division in the Ultimate Fighting Championship from 2015 to 2022 and previously held the UFC Heavyweight Championship title. After living homeless on the streets of Paris, he found a boxing club where coach Didier Carmont recognized his potential and offered support. Lopez provided Ngannou with MMA gear and allowed him to train and sleep at the gym, marking the beginning of his professional MMA journey. Ngannou began his MMA career in November 2013, competing primarily in the French promotion 100% Fight and other regional European events. He made his UFC debut on 19 December 2015 against Luis Henrique at UFC on Fox 17. In a major career moment, Ngannou faced veteran Alistair Overeem on 2 December 2017 at UFC 218.
