Alvis Forrest Gregg was born on October 18, 1933, and passed away on April 12, 2019, as an American professional football player and coach. Forrest Gregg played 16 seasons in the National Football League as a Pro Football Hall of Fame offensive tackle, winning six NFL championships. He served as head coach for three NFL teams and two Canadian Football League teams during his post-playing career. At SMU, Gregg played on both the offensive and defensive line and earned All-Southwest Conference honors in his final two seasons. He was a key contributor to the Green Bay Packers dynasty under head coach Vince Lombardi, which won five NFL championships and the first two Super Bowls. In Green Bay, Gregg wore number 75 for 15 seasons, but switched to number 79 during his final season in 1971 due to a roster conflict with Jethro Pugh. After being promoted from defensive coordinator in 1975, Gregg served as head coach through 1977 following the dismissal of Nick Skorich after the 1974 season.
