Floyd Joy Mayweather Jr. was born on February 24, 1977, and is an American professional boxer and boxing promoter. Mayweather won 15 major world championships across five weight classes, from super featherweight to light middleweight. He captured the Ring magazine title in three different weight divisions. As an amateur, he earned a bronze medal in the featherweight division at the 1996 Olympics and won three U.S. Golden Gloves titles. He received the Fighter of the Year award from The Ring magazine in 1998 and 2007, and was named Fighter of the Decade for the 2010s by the BWAA. ESPN ranked him the greatest pound for pound boxer of the last 25 years in 2016 and the best of the 21st century in 2024. In 2021, he was ranked the sixth highest-paid athlete of all time with $1.2 billion in earnings, and by 2026, his income was estimated at $1.57 billion, placing him at number 10.
