Floyd Little Biography

Floyd Douglas Little was born on July 4, 1942, and passed away on January 1, 2021, as an American professional football player who played as a halfback for the Denver Broncos in the AFL and later the NFL. He played college football for the Syracuse Orangemen and earned All-American honors on two separate occasions. Little was selected sixth overall in the 1967 NFL/AFL draft, which marked the first common draft between the two leagues. He was inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame in 1983 and later into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 2010. He chose to attend Syracuse University after being persuaded by Ernie Davis, the first African-American Heisman Trophy winner. In 1975, Little retired as the NFL's seventh all-time leading rusher with 6,323 rushing yards and 54 total touchdowns from rushing, receiving, and returns. During the six-year span from 1968 to 1973, Little rushed for more yards and more yards from scrimmage than any other running back in the NFL.
