Félix Hernández Biography

Félix Abraham Hernández García, born on April 8, 1986, is a Venezuelan-American former professional baseball pitcher known as King Félix. He has played in Major League Baseball for the Seattle Mariners from 2005 through 2019. Hernández was selected as an All-Star six times and led MLB in wins during 2009, while also leading the American League in earned run average in 2010 and 2014. On April 23, 2016, he recorded his 2,163rd career strikeout, surpassing the previous Seattle Mariners record. His 146th career win, achieved on May 9, made him the all-time leader in wins for the Seattle Mariners. In 2005, he posted a 9–4 record with a 2.25 ERA and 100 strikeouts in 88 innings while playing for the Triple-A Tacoma Rainiers. Hernández became the first American League pitcher to hit a grand slam since May 11, 1971, when Cleveland’s Steve Dunning accomplished the feat.
