Emmitt Smith Biography

Emmitt James Smith III, born on May 15, 1969, played professional football in the National Football League for 15 seasons, primarily with the Dallas Cowboys. He holds the NFL record for all-time rushing yards and is recognized as one of the greatest running backs in league history. Smith played college football for three seasons with the Florida Gators, where he established multiple school rushing records. After earning unanimous All-American honors in 1989, he decided to enter the professional league before completing his senior year. The Dallas Cowboys selected him with the 17th overall pick in the 1990 NFL Draft. In 1993, he became the only running back to win a Super Bowl, the NFL MVP award, the rushing title, and the Super Bowl MVP in a single season. He was inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame in 2006 and the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 2010.
