Elvis Patterson Biography

Elvis Vernell Patterson, born October 21, 1960, was an American former professional football player who played as a defensive back in the National Football League. He played college football for the Kansas Jayhawks before entering the professional ranks. Patterson was selected by the Jacksonville Bulls in the tenth round with the 210th overall pick in the 1984 USFL draft. In 1985, he was named the starter at left cornerback for his team. He contributed to the team’s success in 1986, including helping them win Super Bowl XXI. On October 13, 1993, he was traded to the Dallas Cowboys along with a seventh round draft pick (#216), in exchange for a fifth round pick (#159) and a seventh round pick (#217). In 2005, he coached the Lakewood Cougars middle school football team to a 5-2 season record.
