Earl Morrall Biography

Earl Morrall played professional football in the NFL for 21 seasons, born on May 17, 1934, and passing away on April 25, 2014. He remained the last active NFL player from the 1950s, continuing his career into later decades. Morrall played three seasons at Michigan State, leading the Spartans to a 9–1 record during the 1955 season. He also played baseball at Michigan State, participating in the College World Series as a shortstop and third baseman. Morrall began his NFL career in 1956 as the second overall draft pick, selected by the San Francisco 49ers. He had his best season in 1963 while with the Lions, throwing for 24 touchdowns and over 2,600 yards. During his time with the Giants, he threw for 2,446 yards and 22 touchdowns, though a wrist injury in 1966 limited his role.
