Douglas Richard McDermott, born on January 3, 1992, is an American professional basketball player who last played for the Sacramento Kings in the National Basketball Association. McDermott led the nation in scoring during the 2013–14 season while playing college basketball for the Creighton Bluejays and earned three-time consensus first-team All-American honors. Selected 11th overall in the 2014 NBA draft, McDermott was picked by the Denver Nuggets after his collegiate career. As a freshman in 2010–11, he averaged 14.9 points and 7.2 rebounds per game while starting all 39 games for the Bluejays. Doug McDermott achieved first team all-conference recognition as a freshman, a distinction not matched since Cleo Littleton of Wichita State in 1954. McDermott led the Bluejays to the 2011 College Basketball Invitational, where they reached the best of three final series before losing to Oregon. As a sophomore, he was one of five men named first team All-America for the 2011–12 season.
