Domantas Sabonis Biography

Domantas Sabonis, born on May 3, 1996, is a Lithuanian-American professional basketball player who has competed for the Sacramento Kings in the NBA and the Lithuanian national team. Sabonis began his professional career in Spain, playing for Unicaja Málaga. After being selected 11th overall in the 2016 NBA draft by the Orlando Magic, he was traded to the Oklahoma City Thunder on draft night and spent his rookie season with the team. In 2023, Sabonis earned his first All-NBA team selection and third All-Star appearance, helping the Kings secure the third seed and end a 16-season playoff drought. On November 14, 2014, he made his professional debut, recording 14 points, eight rebounds, two assists, one steal, and one block in 20 minutes of play. Following a strong season at Gonzaga, Sabonis was named to the All-WCC Second Team and the WCC All-Freshman Team. On April 4, 2015, a coach confirmed that Sabonis intended to return for his sophomore year at Gonzaga, stating he had not seriously considered entering the 2015 NBA draft.
