Derek Dallas Carr, born on March 28, 1991, is an American former professional football quarterback who has played 11 seasons in the National Football League. Derek Carr earned first-team All-Mountain West Conference recognition on two occasions during his tenure with the Fresno State Bulldogs prior to being drafted by the Oakland Raiders in the 2014 NFL draft. Carr led the Raiders to playoff appearances in 2016, their first since 2002, and again in 2021 as a four-time Pro Bowler. Following a 2022 season that was below expectations, Carr lost his starting job and agreed with Raiders leadership to be released after the season concluded. In 2002 the Carr family moved from Bakersfield to Sugar Land, Texas, following David Carr's selection as the first overall pick by the Houston Texans. Carr's high school football career began at Clements High School in Sugar Land, Texas. As a junior, Carr led his team to a 13–0 undefeated season, including postseason victories, before losing in the 2007 Class 5A Division 2 State playoffs quarterfinals to Katy High School, which also went undefeated and won the championship.
