Deion Luwynn Sanders Sr. was born on August 9, 1967, and is an American football coach and former player who serves as head football coach at the University of Colorado Boulder. He played in the National Football League for 14 seasons, competing with the Atlanta Falcons, San Francisco 49ers, Dallas Cowboys, Washington Redskins, and Baltimore Ravens. Sanders played college football for the Florida State Seminoles, earning the Jim Thorpe Award in 1988. He made consecutive Super Bowl appearances in Super Bowl XXIX with the 49ers and Super Bowl XXX with the Cowboys, winning both games. After retiring as a player, Sanders transitioned into a career as a sports analyst and coach. In 1985, he was named to the Florida High School Association All-Century Team, which honored the top 33 players in the state's 100-year history of high school football. Sanders earned third-team All-American honors in 1986 and was a unanimous All-American in 1987 and 1988, recording 14 interceptions, including one returned 100 yards for a touchdown.
