David West Biography

David West, born August 29, 1980, played 15 seasons in the NBA for the New Orleans Hornets, Indiana Pacers, San Antonio Spurs, and Golden State Warriors. As a senior in 2003, he earned national player of the year honors from the AP and USBWA while playing for Xavier. He was named an NBA All-Star in 2008 and 2009 and won two NBA championships in 2017 and 2018. In his freshman year at Xavier, West led the Atlantic 10 in rebounding with 9.1 and finished fourth in scoring with 11.7 points per game. During the 2000–01 season, he recorded five 20-point, 20-rebound games and won his first A-10 Player of the Year award. In October 2007, Sports Illustrated named him to its NCAA All-Decade Team for the 2000s. He was selected 18th overall in the 2003 NBA draft by the New Orleans Hornets.
