David Wilcox, nicknamed the Intimidator, played American football linebacker for the San Francisco 49ers from 1964 to 1974. Wilcox was named to seven Pro Bowls and earned All-Pro honors five times during his NFL career. Selected in the third round of the 1964 NFL draft, he chose the 49ers over the Houston Oilers who drafted him in the sixth round of the 1964 AFL draft. After two years at Boise Junior College under coach Lyle Smith, he transferred to the University of Oregon in 1962. His older brother John played on the 1957 Rose Bowl team and was drafted by the Philadelphia Eagles in the 15th round of the 1960 NFL draft. Following his 1963 senior season, Wilcox competed in the Hula Bowl, Coaches’ All-America Bowl, and the College All-Star Game. He was named All-NFL by the AP in 1967, 1971, 1972, and 1973, and earned All-NFC honors in 1971 and 1972.
