Dave Casper Biography

David John Casper, born February 2, 1952, was an American professional football player who played as a tight end in the NFL, notably with the Oakland Raiders. He was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 2002 and later into the College Football Hall of Fame in 2012. Casper attended St. Edward Central Catholic High School in Elgin, Illinois, for three years before finishing high school at Chilton High School, 35 miles south of Green Bay. He played college football at Notre Dame, earning Honorable Mention All-America honors as a tackle in 1972. Casper received his bachelor’s degree in economics and graduated in 1974. He was selected 45th overall in the 1974 NFL draft by the Oakland Raiders. In 1976, he recorded 53 catches for 691 yards and 10 touchdowns, becoming a top-ten receiver during the Raiders’ championship season.
