Wilford Daniel White, born on February 9, 1952, was an American former professional football player who played as a quarterback and punter for 13 seasons with the Dallas Cowboys in the National Football League. He was the third starting quarterback to hold the primary role for the Dallas Cowboys franchise, following Roger Staubach and Don Meredith. White started 62 games, achieved a 62–30 record as a starter, earned second team All-Pro recognition in 1982, and led the Cowboys to five playoff appearances, including three consecutive NFC Championship Game appearances from 1980 to 1982. Frank Kush, then the football head coach at Arizona State University, helped convince Bobby Winkles, the school's baseball coach, to offer White a scholarship with the condition that he would also serve as a punter for the football team. During his collegiate career, White compiled a 32–4 record, won three Fiesta Bowls, set seven NCAA passing records, and was named an All-American in 1973 when he led the nation in total offense. In 2010, White was honored at a Legends Luncheon hosted by the Arizona State University Alumni Association and Sun Devil Club, alongside other former Sun Devil quarterbacks. He shared the quarterback role with John Huarte, contributing to a semifinal appearance in his rookie season and a second-place finish in 1975.
