Daniel Lee Dierdorf, born on June 29, 1949, is an American sportscaster and former professional football player. He played 13 seasons as an offensive tackle in the National Football League, representing the St. Louis Cardinals from 1971 to 1983. Dierdorf competed in college football for the Michigan Wolverines, earning recognition as a consensus All-America in 1970 and a first-team All-Big Ten selection in 1969 and 1970. He was honored with induction into the University of Michigan Athletic Hall of Honor in 1996 and later into the College Football Hall of Fame in 2000. After retiring from professional football, Dierdorf began a career in sports broadcasting. In 2008, he was awarded the Pete Rozelle Radio-Television Award by the Pro Football Hall of Fame. Dierdorf started his collegiate career at the University of Michigan in 1967, having been recruited by head coach Bump Elliott.
