Dan Campbell Biography

Daniel Allen Campbell, born on April 13, 1976, serves as the head coach for the Detroit Lions in the National Football League. He has competed in the NFL for 11 seasons as a professional football player. Campbell played college football at Texas A&M and was drafted by the New York Giants in the third round of the 1999 NFL draft. After retiring as a player, he began a coaching career and served as interim head coach for the Miami Dolphins in 2015. In 2023, he guided the Lions to a division title, their first playoff victory since 1991, and their second appearance in the NFC Championship Game. He joined the Dallas Cowboys as a free agent in 2003, one of the first to sign under head coach Bill Parcells. On February 26, 2009, he signed with the New Orleans Saints, reuniting with head coach Sean Payton, who had previously served as his offensive coordinator with the Cowboys and the Giants.
