Dabo Swinney Biography

William Christopher "Dabo" Swinney, born November 20, 1969, is an American college football coach who has served as head coach at Clemson University. Swinney took over as head coach of the Clemson Tigers seven games into the 2008 season following Tommy Bowden's resignation. He led the Clemson Tigers to national championships in 2016 and 2018. The 2018 Clemson Tigers team has been regarded as one of the greatest in college football history. Swinney maintained academic excellence and continued to perform well in football despite personal challenges. He was a first-generation college student and was a member of the Pi Kappa Alpha fraternity during his college years. Swinney did not participate in football during the 2001 season, opting instead to receive contractual payments from Alabama.
