Conor Anthony McGregor, born on 14 July 1988, is an Irish professional mixed martial artist who has competed in multiple weight classes. He has held the Ultimate Fighting Championship Featherweight and Lightweight Championships, making him the first fighter to hold titles in two divisions at once. Prior to joining the UFC, McGregor captured the CWFC Featherweight and Lightweight Championships in 2012. In 2016, he claimed the UFC Lightweight Championship by defeating Eddie Alvarez at UFC 205. McGregor was recognized as the world's highest-paid athlete by Forbes in 2021, with a reported income of $180 million. His professional mixed martial arts career began on 17 February 2007, when he fought Kieran Campbell in an amateur bout for the Irish Ring of Truth promotion in Dublin. In February 2013, UFC president Dana White visited Dublin and was approached by multiple individuals urging him to sign McGregor, who had already gained attention in the regional circuit.
