Cole Kmet Biography

Cole Kmet, born on March 10, 1999, is an American professional football tight end who has played in the National Football League. He played college football for the Notre Dame Fighting Irish before being selected by the Chicago Bears in the second round of the 2020 NFL draft. Prior to the 2017 Major League Baseball draft, Kmet participated in a workout with the Chicago White Sox. As a true freshman at Notre Dame in 2017, he appeared in all 13 games and recorded two receptions for 14 yards. In the NFL, Kmet developed a touchdown celebration that mimicked a home run swing, referencing his prior baseball experience. During the 2021 season, he played in all 17 games and recorded 60 receptions for 612 yards. The Bears’ offensive coordinator in 2021 expressed confidence in Kmet, who did not score a touchdown that season.
