Clark Gillies, born on April 7, 1954, was a Canadian professional ice hockey player who competed in the National Hockey League. He has played for the New York Islanders and Buffalo Sabres during his career from 1974 to 1988. Gillies contributed as a key offensive player on the Trio Grande line, helping his team create scoring opportunities during his tenure. Over 14 seasons in 958 career games, he recorded 319 goals, 378 assists, and accumulated 1,023 penalty minutes. Gillies experienced homesickness during his time in professional hockey and continued to play during the off season. In 1974, during his final season with Regina, he scored 46 goals and added 66 assists, earned First All-Star team recognition, and helped his team win the Memorial Cup. He was named team captain in the latter half of the 1976–77 season, though he did not feel entirely at ease in the role despite his communication abilities.
