Chris Evert Biography

Christine Marie Evert, born on December 21, 1954, is an American former professional tennis player. She was ranked world No. 1 in women's singles by the Women's Tennis Association for 260 weeks and finished as year-end No. 1 seven times. Evert secured 157 singles titles, including 18 Grand Slam championships, with seven French Open victories and six US Open titles. She won at least one major title in 13 consecutive years and appeared in a record 34 major women's singles finals. Her career singles winning percentage of 89.97% ranks as the second highest in the Open Era for either gender. On clay courts, Evert achieved a career singles winning percentage of 94.55%, a WTA Tour record. In later years, she has worked as a tennis coach and served as an analyst for ESPN, and she has a line of tennis and active apparel.
