Chris Coghlan Biography

Christopher Brockett Coghlan, born on June 18, 1985, is an American former professional baseball outfielder. He has played in Major League Baseball for the Chicago Cubs, Florida / Miami Marlins, Oakland Athletics, and Toronto Blue Jays. In 2004, he started 54 games at third base and earned recognition as a Southeastern Conference All-Freshman selection. Coghlan was chosen by the Florida Marlins in the first round with the 36th overall pick in the 2006 Major League Baseball draft and subsequently signed a professional contract. He made his major league debut on May 8, 2009, beginning his professional career at the highest level of baseball. In August 2009, he recorded 41 hits, the most by a rookie since 1998, and received Rookie of the Month honors. After the 2013 season, he was not offered a contract by Miami and became a free agent.
