Chase Cameron Utley, born on December 17, 1978, is an American former professional baseball player who played 16 seasons in Major League Baseball, primarily as a second baseman for the Philadelphia Phillies. He has also competed for the Los Angeles Dodgers during his MLB career. Utley has been selected as an All-Star six times, won a World Series championship with the Phillies in 2008, and was named to the Sports Illustrated All-Decade Team for the 2000s as a second baseman. He has served as a team leader for the Phillies, alongside teammates Rollins and Ryan Howard, and has demonstrated leadership qualities while playing for the Dodgers. Utley holds the record for most World Series home runs by a second baseman with seven, and he shares the record for most home runs in a single World Series with five, alongside Reggie Jackson and George Springer. During his time at UCLA, he played summer baseball for the Brewster Whitecaps in 1998 and later for the Cotuit Kettleers in 1999, earning league all-star recognition. He was chosen by the Philadelphia Phillies in the first round with the 15th overall pick in the 2000 amateur draft.
