Charlie Tutan Waters, born on September 10, 1948, played his entire 12-year professional football career as a safety for the Dallas Cowboys in the National Football League. He competed in college football for the Clemson Tigers before entering the NFL. Waters participated in the 1965 Shrine Bowl and completed his undergraduate studies in 1966. He accepted a football scholarship to attend Clemson University. After initially playing as a quarterback, he transitioned to split end for the final 15 games of his college season. The Dallas Cowboys drafted him in the third round with the 66th overall pick in the 1970 NFL draft as a defensive back. In 1975, he shifted to strong safety to succeed the veteran Cornell Green, recording three interceptions for 55 yards and one touchdown.
