Charles Cobb Blackmon, born on July 1, 1986, is an American former professional baseball outfielder who played his entire 14-year Major League Baseball career with the Colorado Rockies. He began his MLB journey in 2011 after progressing through the minor league system. A native of Dallas, Texas, Blackmon played college baseball at the Georgia Institute of Technology, representing the Yellow Jackets. He earned recognition as a four-time MLB All-Star, a two-time Silver Slugger Award recipient, and the 2017 National League batting champion. In addition to baseball, Blackmon participated in basketball and football during his high school years and received Academic Player of the Year honors three times. He also received academic accolades, including a spot on the 2008 ESPN The Magazine Academic All-America Second Team. Prior to his MLB debut, Blackmon was selected in the 28th round of the 2004 draft by the Florida Marlins and in the 20th round of the 2005 draft by the Boston Red Sox, both times choosing not to sign.
