Charles Raymond White, born on January 22, 1958, was an American professional football running back who played in the National Football League for nine seasons from 1980 to 1988. He played college football for the USC Trojans, earning recognition as a twice unanimous All-American and winning the Heisman Trophy. Born in Los Angeles, California, White graduated from San Fernando High School, where he won the 330-yard low hurdles at the CIF California State Meet. He attended the University of Southern California, where he played for the USC Trojans football team. In 1978, White was awarded the W.J. Voit Memorial Trophy as the outstanding college football player on the Pacific Coast. He was selected 27th overall in the 1980 NFL draft by the Cleveland Browns. After four seasons in Cleveland, where he rushed for 942 yards and averaged 3.4 yards per carry, White was released prior to the 1985 season.
