Chad Johnson Biography

Chad Johnson played college football for the Santa Monica Corsairs and the Oregon State Beavers, and has played in the NFL for the Cincinnati Bengals and the New England Patriots. Johnson emerged as one of the NFL's most productive wide receivers during the 2000s and holds nearly every Bengals receiving record. Johnson earned six Pro Bowl selections, three All-Pro honors, and was recognized as the top wide receiver in Bengals history on their 40th anniversary roster. Johnson, who rarely attended class in high school, did not qualify academically for a major college. In 1997, Johnson transferred to Santa Monica College, a community college in Santa Monica, California. Johnson played the 1997 season but was ruled academically ineligible in 1998. In 2000, Johnson transferred to Oregon State University after being aggressively recruited by coach Dennis Erickson to play for the OSU team.
