Carmelo Anthony Biography

Carmelo Kyam Anthony, born on May 29, 1984, is an American former professional basketball player who competed in the National Basketball Association. Anthony, known by the nickname 'Melo,' has played 19 seasons in the NBA and has been named to the All-Star team ten times and selected to the All-NBA Team six times. He played college basketball for the Syracuse Orange and won a national championship during his freshman year in 2003, earning the NCAA Tournament's Most Outstanding Player award. After one season at Syracuse, Anthony entered the 2003 NBA draft and was chosen third overall by the Denver Nuggets. On January 24, 2014, he scored a career-high 62 points in a game against the Charlotte Bobcats, setting records for the New York Knicks and Madison Square Garden. Anthony was traded to the Oklahoma City Thunder, where he played one season before joining the Houston Rockets for a brief period. He has competed in the Olympics for the United States national team on four occasions, winning a bronze medal in 2004 and gold medals in 2008, 2012, and 2016.
