Carlos Juan Delgado Hernández, born on June 25, 1972, is a Puerto Rican former professional baseball player and coach. He played in Major League Baseball from 1993 to 2009, primarily as a first baseman, with the Toronto Blue Jays, where he won the 2000 American League Hank Aaron Award and led the 2003 AL in RBI. Delgado holds the Major League Baseball record for career home runs by a Puerto Rican player with 473. During his 12 years with the Toronto Blue Jays, he set team records in home runs (336), RBI (1,058), walks (827), and on-base plus slugging (.949). In 2006, he was honored as the recipient of the Roberto Clemente Award. Delgado has expressed deep pride in being an Aguadillano, noting that everything he values is found in the municipality where his off-season home is located. In 1992, he played for the Dunedin Blue Jays in the Florida State League, producing 30 home runs, 100 RBI, and a .324 batting average.
