Byron Hunt Biography

Byron Ray Hunt, born on December 17, 1958, was an American former professional football player who played as a linebacker in the National Football League. He was chosen in the ninth round of the 1981 NFL draft by a team that later became part of his professional career. Hunt played college football for the SMU Mustangs, representing the university in collegiate competition. He accepted a football scholarship to attend Southern Methodist University, where he played before entering the NFL. During the seventh game of the 1982 season, he sacked Washington Redskins quarterback Joe Theismann, resulting in a visible injury to Theismann's front teeth. In the Week 10 game of the 1986 season, Hunt delivered a hit that caused Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Ron Jaworski to tear a tendon on the little finger of his right hand. Hunt is the younger brother of former New England Patriots linebacker Sam Hunt, who also played in the NFL.
