Buck Showalter Biography

William Nathaniel Showalter III, born on May 23, 1956, is an American professional baseball manager. He has managed the New York Yankees, Arizona Diamondbacks, Texas Rangers, Baltimore Orioles, and New York Mets. Showalter has guided multiple teams to postseason appearances within a few seasons of taking over. He departed both the Yankees and Diamondbacks just before each team won the World Series. Since Dusty Baker’s 2022 World Series victory, Showalter holds the record for most career wins among active MLB managers without a World Series title. He played college baseball at Chipola Junior College in Marianna, Florida, during 1976. During the 1977 season, he achieved All-American status and recorded a .459 batting average, setting a Mississippi State single-season record.
