Bryce Harper Biography

Bryce Aron Max Harper, born October 16, 1992, is an American professional baseball player who has competed as a first baseman and outfielder in Major League Baseball. He has played for the Philadelphia Phillies and previously for the Washington Nationals in MLB. Harper was recognized as a top draft prospect and was named a five-tool player; he left high school early to attend the College of Southern Nevada, where he earned the 2010 Golden Spikes Award. The Washington Nationals selected him as the first overall pick in the 2010 MLB draft. He was named to the 2012 All-Star Game, making him the youngest position player to participate and the second youngest overall to do so in MLB history. Harper received the National League Rookie of the Year Award in 2012 and shared the NL lead in home runs during 2015. He was awarded the National League Most Valuable Player honor in 2015 by unanimous vote, becoming the youngest player to win the award at age 23.
