Bobby Witt Jr. Biography

Robert Andrew Witt Jr., born on June 14, 2000, is an American professional baseball shortstop who has played in Major League Baseball. He was selected second overall in the 2019 MLB draft and made his debut in the league in 2022. In 2024, he earned his first All-Star Game selection and received both a Gold Glove Award and a Silver Slugger Award. He repeated his All-Star Game appearance and won a Gold Glove Award and a Silver Slugger Award in 2025, along with the American League Platinum Glove Award. Witt is the first shortstop in MLB history to record two 30–30 seasons, achieving this in 2023 and 2024. As a junior in 2018, he batted .446 and hit 10 home runs during his high school career. During his senior year in 2019, he was honored as the Gatorade National Baseball Player of the Year after posting a .515 batting average, 15 home runs, 54 RBIs, and 17 stolen bases.
