Bob Uecker Biography

Robert George Uecker was born on January 26, 1934, and passed away on January 16, 2025, after a career spanning 54 seasons as a play-by-play announcer for the Milwaukee Brewers in Major League Baseball. He also appeared in occasional television and film roles during his career. Uecker signed with the Milwaukee Braves in 1956 and made his major league debut in 1962 after several years in the minor leagues. He won a World Series championship with the St. Louis Cardinals in 1964. After retiring as a player, he began his broadcasting career and served as the primary radio voice for the Milwaukee Brewers starting in 1971. He received the 2003 Ford C. Frick Award from the National Baseball Hall of Fame in recognition of his contributions to baseball broadcasting. Before the 1964 season, the Milwaukee Braves traded Uecker to the St. Louis Cardinals in exchange for minor league players Jimmie Coker and Gary Kolb.
