Billy Shaw Biography

William Lewis Shaw, born on December 15, 1938, played as a guard for the Buffalo Bills in the American Football League. After college football at Georgia Tech, he was selected by the Bills in the second round of the 1961 AFL draft. He helped the Bills win three consecutive Eastern Division titles and captured two AFL championships in 1964 and 1965. Shaw earned first-team All-AFL honors from 1962 to 1966 and was named to the second team in 1968 and 1969. He played his entire professional career in the AFL and retired after the 1969 season. By his senior year, Shaw weighed 220 pounds and received All-American and All-SEC honors, and he was named to the 1961 College All-Star Team. Billy Shaw faced Ed Khayat when the College All-Star Team played the Philadelphia Eagles in the annual all-star contest.
