Billy Kilmer Biography

William Orland Kilmer Jr. born on September 5, 1939, played as a quarterback in the NFL for the San Francisco 49ers, New Orleans Saints, and Washington Redskins. Kilmer also served as a running back, wide receiver, and punter during his professional football career. In 1964, while playing running back for the 49ers, Kilmer was involved in a notable fumble incident that led to a 66-yard touchdown run by Jim Marshall of the Vikings. At the end of the 1972 NFL season, Kilmer was the starting quarterback for the Washington Redskins in Super Bowl VII, where they lost 14–7 to the Miami Dolphins. After high school in 1957, Kilmer played one year at Citrus Junior College, where he scored six touchdowns and threw for 15 more. Kilmer competed on the UCLA basketball team during the 1959–60 season under head coach John Wooden. Following his UCLA career, Kilmer played in the 1961 College All-Star Game and earned Most Valuable Player honors.
