William Donovan Ard, born on March 12, 1959, was an American former professional football player who played as a guard in the National Football League. He played college football at Wake Forest University and was chosen 221st overall in the eighth round of the 1981 NFL draft. Ard secured a Super Bowl victory with the New York Giants during the 1987 season. He earned All-American and All-ACC honors in 1980 while serving as team captain for Wake Forest. He began his NFL career as a starting guard for the New York Giants from 1981 to 1988, later playing three seasons with the Green Bay Packers. Wake Forest University honored Ard by inducting him into its Sports Hall of Fame in 1993. He participated in 148 professional games across an 11-year career in the NFL.
