Bill Mazeroski played his entire Major League Baseball career as a second baseman for the Pittsburgh Pirates from 1956 to 1972. He hit a walk-off home run in the ninth inning of Game 7 during the 1960 World Series, defeating the New York Yankees. Mazeroski was awarded the Babe Ruth Award following his .320 batting performance in the World Series. He won eight Gold Glove Awards, known for his skill in making the pivot during double plays. Mazeroski held National League records for career games (2,094), putouts (4,974), assists (6,685), and total chances (11,863) by a second baseman, with a fielding percentage of .983. He recorded 138 career home runs and 853 runs batted in, the most by any second baseman between 1944 and 1974. Mazeroski helped the Pirates win three consecutive division titles, and he was one of only two 1960 champions still on the team when they won in 1971.
