Bernie Kosar Biography

Bernard Joseph Kosar Jr. was born on November 25, 1963, and played as a quarterback in the National Football League. He led the Miami Hurricanes to a national championship in 1983 during his college football career. Kosar committed to the University of Miami, which featured a passing-oriented offense and was rising as a top college football program. His performance helped establish the University of Miami's reputation as 'Quarterback U' due to the number of elite quarterbacks it produced. In the national championship game, he passed for 300 yards and two touchdowns, helping Miami defeat the Cornhuskers 31–30. He earned Orange Bowl MVP honors for his standout performance in that game. During a November 23, 1984, matchup, Kosar threw for 447 yards and two touchdowns, completing 25 of 38 passes, in Miami's 47–45 loss to Boston College.
