Ben Rice Biography

Benjamin Kimball Rice, born on February 22, 1999, is an American professional baseball player who has played as a first baseman, designated hitter, and catcher in Major League Baseball. Rice played collegiate baseball at Dartmouth College before being chosen by the New York Yankees in the 12th round of the 2021 MLB draft. He made his debut in Major League Baseball during the 2024 season. Rice earned selection to his first All-Star game in 2026. During his sophomore year in 2020, he appeared in seven games before the remainder of the season was canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic. In 2022, he played 68 games with the Tampa affiliate, recording a .267 batting average, .368 on-base percentage, and .442 slugging percentage with nine home runs and 36 runs batted in. Rice began the 2024 season with the Somerset team prior to his MLB debut.
