Bart Starr Biography

Bryan Bartlett Starr, born January 9, 1934, was an American professional football quarterback and head coach who played for the Green Bay Packers in the National Football League. He played college football at Alabama and was drafted by the Packers in the 17th round of the 1956 NFL draft, spending 16 seasons with the team until 1971. Starr is the only quarterback in NFL history to lead a team to three consecutive league championships, achieving this feat between 1965 and 1967. As head coach of the Packers, he recorded a 52–76–3 win–loss–tie record during his tenure from 1975 to 1983. He was named the Most Valuable Player of the first two Super Bowls and earned four Pro Bowl selections over his career. Starr holds the third highest postseason passer rating in NFL history at 104.8, with a postseason record of 9–1. For 32 years, he held the Packers’ franchise record for games played, a mark he achieved across 196 games.
