Baker Mayfield Biography

Baker Reagan Mayfield, born on April 14, 1995, is an American professional football quarterback who has played in the National Football League. After beginning his college career with the Texas Tech Red Raiders, he transferred to the Oklahoma Sooners, where he became the first walk-on to win the Heisman Trophy. He was selected as the first overall pick by the Cleveland Browns in the 2018 NFL draft. During his rookie season, Mayfield established the NFL record for most passing touchdowns by a rookie quarterback and led the Browns to their first win in 19 games. In 2020, he guided the Browns to their first playoff appearance since 2002 and secured their first playoff victory since 1994. Mayfield joined the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in 2023 and led the team to two consecutive division titles and a playoff win. He was recognized as Big 12 Conference Offensive Player of the Week, a distinction first awarded to a freshman Texas Tech quarterback since Kliff Kingsbury in 1999.
