Bake McBride Biography

Arnold Ray McBride, born February 3, 1949, played as an outfielder in Major League Baseball from 1973 to 1983 for the St. Louis Cardinals, Philadelphia Phillies, and Cleveland Indians. He had the most success with the Phillies teams of the late 1970s and early 1980s. McBride began his professional career with the Cardinals following his education at Fulton High School and Westminster College in Missouri. McBride played on the 1980 Phillies, a team that won the World Series, and hit a three-run home run in the first game of the postseason. McBride served as a minor league coach for the New York Mets and the Cardinals following his professional playing career. Arnold McBride played as a pitcher for the Kansas City Monarchs in the Negro leagues. McBride was selected by the Cardinals in the 37th round of the 1970 MLB draft.
