Antonio Gates Jr. played his entire 16-year NFL career as a tight end for the San Diego and Los Angeles Chargers from 2003 to 2018. He earned eight Pro Bowl selections and six All-Pro honors during his professional football career. Gates joined the NFL in 2003 as an undrafted free agent after playing college basketball at Kent State. In 2015, he became the second tight end and ninth player overall to record 100 career touchdown receptions. He played basketball at Kent State rather than football during his college years. Gates transferred to Eastern Michigan University to continue his basketball career. He helped Kent State win the MAC tournament and earn a spot in the 2002 NCAA Tournament.
