Anthony Rizzo Biography

Anthony Vincent Rizzo, born on August 8, 1989, is an American former professional baseball first baseman who played in Major League Baseball. He has competed in MLB for 14 seasons, primarily with the Chicago Cubs, contributing significantly to their 2016 World Series championship. Rizzo received the Heart & Hustle Award in 2015, recognizing his dedication and effort on the field. He made his MLB debut in 2011 with the San Diego Padres before being traded to the Chicago Cubs in 2012. Rizzo has played for the New York Yankees over three seasons, concluding his professional career in 2024. He retired at Wrigley Field in 2025 and later returned to the Chicago Cubs in an ambassador role. The Boston Red Sox selected Rizzo in the sixth round of the 2007 Major League Baseball draft after he graduated from Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Florida.
