Andy Moog Biography

Donald Andrew Moog, born February 18, 1960, is a Canadian former professional ice hockey goaltender. Moog has played in the National Hockey League for the Edmonton Oilers, Boston Bruins, Dallas Stars, and Montreal Canadiens, and has also competed for the Canadian national team. He has won three Stanley Cup championships, in the years 1984, 1985, and 1987. Moog served as an assistant coach for the Dallas Stars during the 2009–10 season. After playing minor hockey in Penticton, he advanced to the junior ranks, first in the B.C. Junior Hockey League, and then in the Western Hockey League with the Billings Bighorns, where he earned WHL All-Star honors in 1979–80. The Edmonton Oilers selected him 132nd overall in the 1980 NHL entry draft, recognizing his talent as a goaltender. In the 1982–83 season, Oilers general manager and coach Glen Sather chose to pair Moog with Fuhr, leading to the trade of Low.
