Andrew McCutchen Biography

Andrew Stefan McCutchen, born on October 10, 1986, is an American professional baseball outfielder and designated hitter who has competed in Major League Baseball. He has played for the Pittsburgh Pirates, San Francisco Giants, New York Yankees, Philadelphia Phillies, Milwaukee Brewers, and Texas Rangers. McCutchen helped Team USA win its first gold medal in the 2017 World Baseball Classic. The Pittsburgh Pirates selected McCutchen in the first round with the 11th overall pick in the 2005 MLB draft, and he made his MLB debut in 2009. During his initial time with the Pirates, he earned the National League Most Valuable Player award in 2013, was selected as an All Star five times from 2011 to 2015, and won four Silver Slugger Awards from 2012 to 2015. McCutchen led the National League in hits with 194 in 2012, and he topped the league in on-base percentage (.410), OPS (.952), and extra base hits (69) in 2014. He was eligible to play varsity baseball during his eighth grade year at Fort Meade High School.
