Andre Agassi, born April 29, 1970, is an American former professional tennis player who competed on the ATP Tour. He was ranked world No. 1 in men's singles by the ATP for 101 weeks, including as year-end No. 1 in 1999. Agassi won 60 ATP Tour-level singles titles, including eight Grand Slam championships, an Olympic gold medal, and 17 Masters titles. He is one of nine men to complete the career Grand Slam in singles and one of three to complete the career Golden Slam in singles. After winning an Olympic gold medal in 1996, Agassi faced personal challenges that led to a drop in ranking to as low as No. 141 in 1997, which raised doubts about his future in elite tennis. After adopting a disciplined training routine, Agassi experienced his most productive phase in tennis during the subsequent years. During his professional career spanning over two decades, Agassi was known as the Punisher due to his strong return of serve.
